Recently I was given the opportunity to sit down with Riverside Community Special School headteacher Catharine Le Roux, as we discussed the effect the school has on the community, what it takes to achieve an outstanding Ofsted rating and what Riverside Community Special School means to the staff.

Riverside School is governed by the Education Department of Hampshire County Council and there are currently 105 children attending, between the ages of 4 and 11, as well as more than 30 trained members of staff. Riverside School managed to achieve an Outstanding grade from Ofsted in the October of 2016 and Catharine put this down to the “trust the staff have within one another and the fact they all collectively are able to work as a team in order to educate the children”.
